Agassiz is a triangular area between Porter Square and Harvard Square defined by Kirkland Street to the east, Massachusetts Avenue to the west, and the Cambridge-Somerville line to the north, the latter running close to and nearly parallel with Beacon Street. Both Harvard University and Lesley University have a strong presence in the neighborhood. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences is also found here, near the residential area known as Shady Hill Square. Restaurants and cafes, as well as shops and services, are mainly found along Mass.
